Don't be left out in the cold - book NOW for Ballywillan Drama Group's NI amateur premiere of Disney's Frozen

In a theatrical first for Northern Ireland, the magical kingdom of Arendelle is coming to the Causeway Coast!

Ballywillan Drama Group will be staging a spectacular production of Disney’s FROZEN at the Coleraine Leisure Centre from Sunday, January 31 until Saturday, February 6, 2027.

This highly anticipated musical will be the very first production of the smash-hit West End show to be performed in Northern Ireland by an amateur company. One of the biggest musicals of recent years, Frozen played at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London for three years where it was seen by over 2.8 million people.

Following their critically acclaimed, complete transformation of the Coleraine Leisure Centre into a fully functioning theatre for Guys and Dolls in January 2026, Ballywillan Drama Group is once again taking over the sports complex and building a complete theatrical arena within the sports hall.

This will include a fully functioning theatre space and completely new, tiered, audience seating providing great comfort and view lines for each audience member. The venue will be completely reimagined into a winter wonderland using stunning sets and scenery brought to Northern Ireland by one of the UK’s leading scenic design companies.

An exquisite set of costumes specially designed for Frozen by Utopia Costumes, Scotland, has been secured for the show.

This full-scale musical theatre experience features all the beloved music from the London production including the powerhouse anthem Let It Go, Do You Want to Build a Snowman?, For the First Time in Forever and Love is an Open Door.

Audiences can look forward to spectacular special effects, technical wizardry, all accompanied by a magnificent live orchestra.

Featuring a hugely talented cast of performers including Chloe Freeman-Wallace as Elsa, Niamh Murray and Megan Paul as Anna, Patrick Connor as Kristoff, Steven Millar as Olaf, Joshua Fleming as Hans, Michael Rose as Sven and a host of other Ballywillan favourites who will bring all the musical’s characters to life, this heartwarming story of sisterhood, courage, family and love is perfect for the whole family – and a show not to be missed!

A spokesperson for Ballywillan Drama Group said: “Disney’s Frozen works on many levels – children will love the story and characters but the show was intentionally developed to be a sophisticated, adult evening of musical theatre.

"Instead of relying on cartoonish gimmicks, the production targets theatregoers with premier West End aesthetics such as relying on intricate video projections and specialised custom lighting design to bring Elsa’s ice magic to life organically.

"Ballywillan Drama Group wish to acknowledge and thank the continued support of the major coffee shop chain Ground Espresso Bars whose help and assistance is invaluable in staging such a complex show.”

With only nine performances scheduled, audiences are encouraged to secure their preferred dates early to avoid disappointment.

Disney’s Frozen by Ballywillan Drama Group will run at Coleraine Leisure Centre from Sunday, January 31 until Saturday, February 6, 2027 for nine performances including matinees. All tickets for all shows are priced at £21.50 which includes a booking fee.
