Young People Invited to Explore Heritage and Reconciliation Through Food, Storytelling, and Shared Experience

Young people aged 16–30 from across Ards and North Down are being invited to take part in SAVOUR — an exciting new two-year programme that brings together culture, food, and storytelling to explore shared heritage and reconciliation.

SAVOUR will be delivered by EventWise NI. The programme is part of Ards & North Down Borough Council’s Local Action Plan, a project supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).

SAVOUR (Stories, Ancestry, Voices, Oral history, Understanding, Reconciliation) offers participants a unique opportunity to connect across communities while discovering the rich cultural traditions that shape life in Northern Ireland. The programme forms part of the PEACEPLUS Programme’s ongoing work to build positive relationships and shared understanding across Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland.

Over the course of the programme, participants will enjoy:

  • Three full-day heritage excursions led by expert guides and facilitators
  • Food heritage talks with renowned chef Paula McIntyre, exploring themes of migration, identity, and Ulster-Scots traditions
  • Immersive workshops such as foraging, wild food, and storytelling experiences
  • A safe, inclusive space to share personal stories and build new friendships

Participation is free, and all transport, meals, and activities are provided. Places are limited to 120 participants.
