The business has also strengthened its team in recent months. Long-serving senior funeral service operative Cyril McConnell, who has been with the firm for almost 20 years, is now joined by several new colleagues.

Trainee funeral director Josh Toland, who lives locally, joined the team last September. He began his training with James Brown & Sons in Belfast, who are also part of Funeral Partners Northern Ireland, and is committed to supporting families with care and compassion, as well as providing advice on advance funeral planning through the Choice Funeral Plan.

He was joined in February by funeral service operative Megan Thornbury and receptionist Trina Forsey. Megan’s previous role in domiciliary care and Trina’s in dental nursing and care homes mean they both bring compassion and understanding to their roles.

Josh Toland said: “It’s a privilege to join a funeral director that has been a trusted name in the community since 1933.

"Joseph Poots & Son continues to serve families with the same care, dignity and tradition that were established by the late Joseph Poots and his son Samuel and have defined the business for generations.”

While the surroundings have been refreshed and new team members welcomed, the firm’s values remain unchanged – providing compassionate, professional support to families across Portadown and the surrounding areas.
