Gerard McManus of GP McManus won the Commercial or Public Sector Project category for the completion of Eclectic, a pilates, beauty and wellbeing studio located on Bangor’s Main Street.
The judges were impressed by how GP McManus transformed the three storey building into a multifunctional venue, describing it as a “highly appealing and challenging conversion of an existing building, combining high-quality craftsmanship with modern construction techniques”.
They noted the complicated steel structure and installation of curved walls created by GP McManus to add to the overall aesthetic of Eclectic.

Speaking about the award, Gerard McManus highlighted their ability to turn ‘a building over 100 years old into a new and welcoming home for Eclectic.’
He continued: “We are thrilled to be awarded for this build which really tested our creativity and the quality of our work, as we were met with challenges on a daily basis due to the age of the building. We are extremely proud of the end result and how we turned a building over 100 years old into a new and welcoming home for Eclectic. We are delighted to receive recognition from the judges to win the award for Commercial or Public Sector Project as we had stiff competition in the category.”
Congratulating Gerard and the team from GP McManus on winning this prestigious award, Nicola Morrison, founder of Eclectic, continued: “To be awarded by the Federation of Master Builders is testament to the work produced by GP McManus on creating our haven of wellbeing at Eclectic.
“From day one Gerard and his team worked tirelessly to ensure our vision for Eclectic became a reality and no challenge in the build was too big or too difficult for him in achieving our dream.
“Gerard deserves this recognition and we congratulate him on this award as it makes the painstaking precision with which he approached our build project worthwhile.”
Eclectic is a new concept in wellbeing, beauty and pilates, providing an escape from reality in luxurious surroundings with Epionce skin care, Aromatherapy Associates and Margaret Dabbs London treatments, reformer and classical pilates all under one roof.
