Council commits £267k for projects

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has committed over a quarter of a million pounds towards supporting the local economy and businesses.

Business coaching programmes (ASK and LEAN) are included amongst the approved projects, which provide tailored mentoring and promote networking and sharing of best practice amongst businesses.

The funding also supports Town Centre regeneration, including advancement of the Glengormley Public Realm Scheme as well as four proposed Village Renewal Projects agreed for Killead, Toomebridge, Creggan and Moneyglass including ESF funded Employability and Skills projects, Town and Retail Covid19 Recovery, Strategic Partnership Organisations and GROW for Village Renewal Projects.

Praising the schemes, Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Jim Montgomery said: “I welcome the decision from Council to progress these worthwhile projects. “Each of the outlined schemes will bring many benefits to our Borough and local economy by developing and mentoring our local businesses as well as our town and rural centre offerings.”

This additional £267,000 investment brings the Council’s Economic Development commitment to £1.17million for this financial year.
