'He had charm, a quick wit and an infectious sense of humour': Tributes paid to businessman Frank Boyd, who has died aged 72
Tributes have been paid to Northern Ireland businessman, Frank Boyd, who has died aged 72.
Mr Boyd passed away on Saturday at home in Co Down, surrounded by his family, after a year-long battle with terminal illness.

His first major business was Antrim Electrical, but he is best known for his leading role in the NI property development sector, largely through the Killultagh group of companies.
A statement said he was “passionate about horse racing and all outdoor sports and was a great supporter of the arts. Most of all though, he was a dedicated family man: a loving husband to Rose; and always interested and supportive of his five children, Fiona, Aisling, Brendan, Megan, and Sinead.”
Mr Boyd’s family said he “was a formidable businessman and a true force of nature who had an extraordinary instinct for opportunity and a rare ability to recognise potential long before others could see it. His vision, determination and entrepreneurial drive has built an enduring property legacy across Belfast, Northern Ireland and Europe and we couldn’t be more proud of what he achieved in his very full life.
"He had charm, a quick wit and an infectious sense of humour which meant that almost everyone who met him came away with a story.”
The family continued: “Frank was truly one of a kind – a gentleman, a visionary businessman and an unforgettable character. While his contribution to Northern Ireland’s property landscape was significant, it is his warmth, humour and larger-than-life presence that will be remembered most by all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
