Leading prices for Drumgooland Texels
Judge Sam McAuley, Whitepark Texels made his selection of in-lamb Gimmers from David and James Boyd’s Crawfordsland pen for his first place rosette and later his Overall Female Champion.
This Millcomb Vindicator daughter out of a Beechvale Superior mother is in lamb to Ballygroogan Yorkie, a Corskie Whopper son.

Hide AdClaiming the second place rosette and Reserve Female Champion was Paul and Baillie O’Connor’s Drumgooland exhibit. This smart gimmer is an Oberstown Usain Bolt daughter out of a Forkins mother sired by Strathbogie Terminator.
The Grand Dam is an Ettrick Warrior daughter from a consistent breeding line which was purchased from Alastair Gaults, Forkins at a Northern Stars sale in 2013. She is in lamb to Douganhill Young Gun, a Sportsmans Tremendous II son who stood Champion at Carlisle 2016 and purchased for 12,000gns. This gimmer later went on to sell for the top price of the evening for £1260 to Ron Darlington, Buxton.
In the Ewe Lamb category, Paul and Baillie O’Connor, Drumgooland Texels, claimed the judge’s first and second place rosettes.
The first place exhibit is an Usk Vale War-Lord daughter out of a Glenside Topgun mother. The second place ewe lamb is a Teglium Vigilante daughter out of a Mellor Vale Masterpiece Dam. This lamb’s sister stood third place RUAS 2016 with a full sister sold to 3K. Selling for £294 she moves home to S McNeilly, Ballynure.

Hide AdContinuing to feature in the top prices was Paul and Baillie O’Connor’s Drumgooland Embryo Pregnancies with an embryo pregnancy from a Castlecairn SAS Commander daughter out of a Hexel Lexus Dam purchased from Strathbogie making the second highest price of the sale. This twin embryo to Stainton Yasin, changed hands for £1155 to JC Innes & Sons, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
The Drumgooland pen saw a further embryo pregnancy sell for £840 for another Stainton Yasin from a Glenside Topgun Ewe to Ryan Brolly, Eglinton. Selling for the same money was an empty Ewe Lamb from Beth and Jack Gault’s Cherryvale pen. This ewe lamb, a Teglium Vigilante daughter out of an Ettrick Rainbow Warrior dam joins the BushValley Flock of Alan Thompson, Stranocum.
Also getting good trade was Martin McConville’s Glenhone pen. His fifth place exhibit, a Haddo Undercover daughter realised £525 to Martin Boone Cookstown. Mr McConville also saw this gimmer’s pen mates, another two Haddo Undercover daughters sell for £504.
Trade for good females remained strong throughout with 25 averaging £441.
