Taste of Belgium confirms closure of its CastleCourt store and thanks customers for thier support

Northern Ireland chocolate shop Taste of Belgium has closed its Belfast store, bringing an end to its business just two years after opening in CastleCourt Shopping Centre.

The chocolate café, which built a large social media following for its luxury Dubai-inspired desserts, confirmed the closure in an emotional message to customers last week.

Taste of Belgium opened its Belfast premises in July 2024 after relocating from its original Newry café, which closed the previous month.

The business quickly became a destination for dessert lovers, with customers flocking to try its Dubai chocolate strawberries, Dubai hot chocolate, handcrafted Belgian chocolates and speciality coffees.

"What started as a dream became a beautiful chapter filled with memories, friendships, and so much love. We are incredibly grateful for every smile, every order, and every kind word.

"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."

The CastleCourt outlet had been promoted as a ‘paradise for chocolate lovers’, offering handcrafted Belgian chocolates, rich hot chocolate, mochas, desserts, gift boxes and local ice cream.

The brand gained widespread attention online during the Dubai chocolate craze, with its premium desserts attracting long queues and thousands of views across social media platforms.

The company's website has also been updated with a notice confirming the business has ceased trading.

It states: "Taste of Belgium is now in liquidation and is no longer accepting orders. Thank you to all our customers for your support."

No reason has been given for the closure or the company's liquidation.
