'We are delighted to receive unanimous approval': Northern Ireland property firm secures green light for £250m London landmark scheme
MRP, secures approval for major London redevelopment, with joint firm Cookstown-based McAleer & Rushe set to deliver Grade A offices and a 371-bedroom Maldron hotel
A Tyrone-headquartered property development and investment firm has secured planning consent for a £250m mixed-use development in London.

MRP secured planning consent for the redevelopment of Liberty House in Kensington Olympia, paving the way for a major mixed-use development that will provide Grade A office space alongside a 371-bedroom hotel pre-let to Dalata Hotel Group.
Approved by the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham Planning Committee, the scheme will see the existing 1980s office building replaced with a landmark commercial development comprising 110,000 sq ft of Grade A office accommodation alongside a four-star Maldron-branded hotel pre-let to Dalata Hotel Group.

Located adjacent to the recently completed £1.3bn Olympia regeneration, the development is set to capitalise on growing demand for high-quality workspace and hotel accommodation in one of London’s fastest-evolving business and leisure destinations.
Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2027, with completion expected in 2029. The project has been designed by AHMM and will be delivered by joint firm Cookstown-based contractor McAleer & Rushe.
The new headquarters-style office building has been designed to meet the needs of modern occupiers, featuring 12,000 sq ft floor plates, landscaped terraces, green roofs and strong sustainability credentials.
The hotel element will include contemporary cafés, bars and restaurants at ground-floor level, strengthening the area’s hospitality offering while creating a new destination for visitors, guests and local residents.

The project is targeting a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating and incorporates a low-carbon energy strategy focused on sustainable technologies and efficient design. Public realm improvements will include enhanced landscaping along Hammersmith Road and Brook Green, retention of mature trees and a landscaped central courtyard.
The hotel development has also been designed around principles of retention and regeneration, with the west-wing concrete frame retained and the basement reused, helping to significantly reduce embodied carbon.
Angus Monteith, development director at MRP, said the unanimous approval reflected the strength of the consultation process and the design approach taken in response to community feedback.
He said: “We are delighted to receive unanimous approval for the redevelopment of Liberty House.
“The development forms part of the continued evolution of Kensington Olympia as a major commercial, cultural and hospitality destination, building on significant recent investment in the area while delivering premium office accommodation, new hotel capacity and high-quality public realm improvements.”
Shane Casserly, deputy CEO of Dalata Hotel Group, said the Maldron London Olympia would represent an important addition to the company’s growing presence in the capital.
“The Maldron London Olympia will be our seventh hotel in London, a strategically important market for the company,” he said.
“The regeneration of the Olympia district creates a significant opportunity to capture both corporate and leisure demand in this prime location. We look forward to partnering with MRP to deliver another best-in-class Maldron hotel.”
The development adds to MRP’s growing portfolio of major property projects and highlights the continued role of Northern Ireland-based firms in delivering significant investment and regeneration schemes across the UK.
