'We’re very proud to be delivering': Northern Ireland storage specialist wins £800,000 contract for major Newry warehouse project

Elevate Storage Solutions is installing 17,000 pallet spaces at S&W Wholesale’s new 180,000 sq ft distribution centre, which is due to become operational in early 2027

Northern Ireland storage specialist Elevate Storage Solutions is delivering a major new pallet racking installation at S&W Wholesale’s 180,000 sq ft regional distribution centre in Newry, as the wholesaler prepares for its next phase of growth across the island of Ireland. The contract, valued at approximately £800K, will see Mallusk-based Elevate supply and install the storage infrastructure at S&W’s substantial new facility on Chancellors Road, close to the main Belfast-Dublin corridor. Elevate has been involved in the design of the project since 2021 and secured the installation contract following a competitive tender process. The project will also mark the first major Northern Ireland installation of Whittan’s new SKMX pallet racking system, bringing together Elevate’s local design and installation expertise with new storage technology from one of the UK’s leading manufacturers.

Once complete, the new S&W facility will provide around 180,000 sq ft of warehouse space and form an important part of the company’s plans to increase capacity, support its continued growth and strengthen the service it provides to customers across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Its location in Newry, close to the border and the A1/M1 route between Belfast and Dublin, also positions the new warehouse as a strategic gateway for S&W’s operations across the island. Elevate will install approximately 17,000 pallet locations across the facility, using in excess of 400 tonnes of racking, with a team of 8 people involved in the installation over approximately 10 weeks. Ross Davison, director at Elevate Storage Solutions, said: “This is a significant project for Elevate and one we’re very proud to be delivering. We first became involved in the design several years ago, so to now see the installation taking shape on site is a real milestone for everyone involved. “The scale of the new S&W facility makes it an excellent example of what can be achieved when the customer, designer, manufacturer and installation team work closely together from an early stage. “It is also particularly exciting to be delivering the first major Northern Ireland installation of Whittan’s new SKMX system. Innovation in warehouse design is ultimately about helping businesses make better use of their space, operate more efficiently and create the capacity they need to grow. “For Elevate, this project also reflects our own ambitions. We are increasingly working on substantial projects across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, and Newry is an ideal location to demonstrate the capability we can bring to customers operating across the region.” The new regional distribution centre represents a major investment in S&W Wholesale’s future operations and is designed to provide the additional infrastructure required as the business continues to expand. S&W has described the development as a platform for its continued growth and for improving the way it serves customers across the island. Anthony McVeigh, CEO at S&W Wholesale, said: “Our new facility represents an important new chapter for S&W and will give us the platform we need to support the continued growth of the business and better serve our customers across the island of Ireland. “The warehouse and storage infrastructure are fundamental to how the facility will operate, so it has been important to work with partners who understand both the scale of the project and what we need from the building over the longer term. “Elevate has been involved in the development of the storage solution from an early stage and we are pleased to now see that work becoming a reality on site. The new racking system will help us make effective use of the available space and create the capacity and flexibility needed for the next phase of the business.” The project follows Elevate’s appointment as Whittan’s first Approved Partner in Northern Ireland, strengthening a relationship that gives local customers access to Whittan’s storage systems alongside Elevate’s regional sales, design and installation expertise. Elevate Storage Solutions is the largest stockist of storage equipment in the Greater Belfast area and delivers projects for customers throughout Northern Ireland and further afield. Work at the S&W site is expected to be completed in November 2026, with the new distribution centre due to become operational in early 2027.
