'What a glorious day': Sixth-generation Northern Ireland farmers say thanks as their ‘liquid gold’ spreads to M&S stores nationwide
Limavady couple prove that with hard work and heart, success is possible as Broighter Gold Rapeseed Oil hits Marks & Spencer’s throughout Northern Ireland and Ireland
Limavady-based Broighter Gold Rapeseed Oil has secured a major retail breakthrough, with its award-winning products now stocked in Marks & Spencer stores across Northern Ireland and Ireland.
Founded by sixth-generation farmers Richard Kane and Leona Kane, the family-run business produces single estate, cold-pressed rapeseed oil on Broglasco Farm, located on the outskirts of Myroe.
As part of the new listing, Broighter Gold’s flagship 500ml natural oil will now be available in all participating M&S Food stores, marking a significant milestone for the local producer.
Sharing the news on social media, the Kanes described the launch as a “glorious day” and thanked M&S, along with their team and suppliers, for their support in bringing the product to shelves.
“What a glorious day to launch with M&S Foods throughout all of Northern Ireland and Ireland,” they posted. “We are supplying our 500ml natural oil to all their food stores. We are grateful to M&S, our team and suppliers for supporting us with the launch!”
In a later post they expressed their gratitude to staff: “It takes a team of people, and a long period of time before a launch day. These ladies were amazing in supporting, pushing and helping me get over the hurdles of launching with another new supermarket!

“Kasia, a total angel, if it wasn’t for Kasia - we wouldn't be there. Kasia from day one (over 2, maybe 3 years ago) wanted our products in store. "Blown away by our ethos, story, and how we farm our single estate oils". “Fiona - Senior Food Technologist , kept me sane, supported me so much while I was off for a period, when things were at the busiest at the start of the year. There was a few times, I was close to throwing in the towel! “Amy, her enthusiasm for our oils and what we can achieve in the years ahead is very exciting. I think it’s important especially at the moment for people to realise and support businesses, be it farm shops, delis, producers in supermarkets – we don’t need imported foods, we can grow, produce and stock supermarkets if needed. Support Your Farmers!"
