Mr. Cummings entering into self-isolation comes just a few days after Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Health Secretary Matt Hancock both tested positive for COVID-19.

Mr. Johnson revealed he had tested positive for the disease via his Twitter account last week.

Mr. Johnson continues to lead the government's fight against COVID-19 from his flat in No. 11 Downing Street.

Mr. Cummings was spotted sprinting from No. 10 Downing Street on Thursday a few minutes after Mr. Johnson revealed he was unwell.

At the time of publication, 21 patients in Northern Ireland who tested positive for COVID-19 had died and there are 410 confirmed cases.
