Specsavers team in Magherafelt celebrate winning Dame Mary Perkins Medal for Outstanding Customer Care
The team at Specsavers Magherafelt is celebrating after receiving the Dame Mary Perkins Medal for Outstanding Customer Care, one of the company’s most prestigious honours.
Magherafelt was one of only five Specsavers winners from across the UK and the Republic of Ireland to receive the medal this year, recognising the team’s commitment to providing exceptional care and service to customers in the local community.

The team received its medal on stage at the Specsavers Professional Advancement Conference (PAC), held at the ICC Birmingham. Winners are also invited to a special awards dinner in their honour and receive £1,000 in prize money.
Specsavers Magherafelt is owned and run locally by Brian and Christina O’Kane, with a team of 17 colleagues, including optical assistants, optometrists and lab technicians, all local experts who care passionately about making eye and ear care accessible in their local community.

The proud store partners commented: “This reward is a reflection of our team’s care, dedication and teamwork each and every colleague in-store brings to our customers, every day. As a local business serving Magherafelt and beyond, we are proud to ensure accessible healthcare for our community, and our team is committed to continuous professional development to ensure our customers have access to even more care on their doorsteps.
“We have recently welcomed Aidan McKee as a newly appointed optometrist, who was presented with the Doug Perkins Medal for Clinical Excellence after demonstrating an exceptional commitment to improving eye health services for people in the local community. To have both awards in store is exceptional.”
