Mid outstanding achievement awards

The outgoing Chair of Mid Ulster District Council has presented outstanding achievement awards to five groups and individuals across the district.

In light of the Covid-19 situation, receptions were unable to take place, however, Councillor Martin Kearney has acknowledged the achievements of five local groups and individuals by presenting them with awards personally, while observing a social distance.

Sean Faloon of Bardic Theatre received a Lifetime of Service to the Arts award for his work at Bardic Theatre and service to the local community over the last 30 years.

Craic Theatre also received an award to celebrate 25 Years of Service to the Arts Community as they celebrated 25 successful years of theatre in 2019.

Castlecaulfield Horticultural Society received an award for Outstanding Achievements in 2019 Competitions, including their win of a Gold award under the Champion of Champions category at the RHS Britain in Bloom competition, and the Best Kept Small Village award at The Northern Ireland Best Kept Awards.

Donaghmore Horticultural Community also received an award for Outstanding Achievements in 2019 Competitions, including winning the Village award at the Translink Ulster in Bloom competition, and a Gold award under the Village category at the RHS Britain in Bloom competition.

Stewartstown and District Environmental Group received an award for Outstanding Environmental Achievements in 2019, including their win of Large Village runner up and Most Improved Village awards at the Translink Ulster in Bloom competition, in their inaugural year.

Cllr Kearney congratulated each group and individual on their award. He said: “It is my pleasure to present these awards for outstanding achievements in our district, as I approach my last few days as Chair of Mid Ulster District Council.

“Each award acknowledges the hard work and fantastic contribution to our community that these groups and individuals have made. Over the past year, I’ve been honoured to meet many inspirational individuals and groups across the district,” he said.
