Coastal search for missing man continues

A photograph has now been issued to help try to find the 59-year-old ahead of further search operations today.

Searches have been underway at the Isle of Doagh in Inishowen, County Donegal since Mr Griffiths was reported missing on Tuesday afternoon.

A team of volunteers from across Donegal and Londonderry have joined local people and rescue experts in the area yesterday as land, sea and air searches were conducted.

Mr Griffiths was last seen close to Doagh Famine Village shortly after midnight on August 30, 2016. A Garda spokesman said: “When last seen he was wearing a grey t-shirt with a blue and red coloured design on the front.

He was wearing beige coloured combat style shorts. He is 5’ 10” in height, of medium build with sandy hair and he wears glasses.

Land searches were getting under way again this morning, while water search is set to start at low tide at 1pm involving Greencastle Coastguard, the Sligo 118 helicopter and, weather permitting, Lough Swilly RNLI.
