A PSNI spokesperson said: “We received a report at around 1pm of an ongoing armed robbery at a filling station bureau de change in the Monaghan Road area.

“Officers attended the scene and spoke to the employee, who was unharmed, though obviously shaken by the ordeal.

“It was reported that a man with a hood up and his face covered had entered the premises shortly beforehand, armed with what we believe to have been a small handgun. He demanded money from the employee and subsequently took a quantity of cash before making off in a blue Volkswagen Passat."

The spokesperson appealed for the public to help with the police investigation, saying: “Our enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone with any information which may assist these – including dash-cam or other footage – to contact police using our witness appeal form at https://reporting.psni.police.uk/appeals, quoting reference 630 of 22/08/26, or to call us on 101.”
