Murder investigation launched after body of man discovered in flat

The PSNI has launched a murder investigation after receiving the results of a post-mortem that was carried out on the body of a man found dead in a flat in Belfast on Saturday.

The body of the man was discovered in a flat in north Belfast on Saturday.

The Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Darren McCartney confirmed he is now treating the man's death as suspicious.

“Following the results of a post-mortem examination police investigating the death of a man whose body was discovered in a house in Oakley Street in north Belfast shortly before 11pm on Saturday May 23. are treating it as a murder enquiry.

“The investigation is ongoing and there are no further details available at this time.”
