Police granted further time to question man after woman’s body discovered

Detectives investigating the sudden death of a woman in Portadown on Tuesday have been granted an additional 36 hours to question a man in custody.

The body of the 32-year-old woman was discovered at a property in the Carrickdale Gardens area and the 50-year-old man was arrested soon afterwards.

Police said a post mortem is due to take place to determine the cause of death.

Investigations are ongoing and Detective Chief Inspector Mark Gibson has appealed for anyone with information to contact police on 101 quoting reference 53 of 09/01/21.

DCI Gibson said: “We believe that the deceased was in the area of Carrickdale Gardens in the company of a male at around 5pm on Monday 8 February. We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area from this time until the early hours of Tuesday morning or who has any other information.”
