PSNI granted more time to question suspect in Limerick woman’s disappearance

Detectives investigating the suspected murder of a Limerick woman who disappeared in Co Fermanagh have been granted an additional 36 hours to question a suspect.

Carrie Mullane (Noonan), 39, is known to have travelled to Enniskillen on October 10 but has not been seen since, and has not been in contact with family or friends.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland have said they hold “serious concern” that Ms Mullane may have been the victim of a violent crime and may have been murdered some time after her arrival in Northern Ireland.

A 35-year-old man was arrested earlier in the week on suspicion of murder.

On Wednesday, the PSNI said officers had been granted an additional 36 hours to question the suspect.

“The investigation is continuing at pace,” the police added.

Detectives have said there is a report that Ms Mullane may have travelled to Londonderry on October 11, but they have been unable to verify that.
