PSNI issue warning about fake sports tops after items seized and woman arrested

The PSNI have warned people to beware counterfeit goods after officers seized a suspicious haul of items.

It happened in Newry, Mourne and Down, but the PSNI didn’t say where.

“Clothing, trainers, shoes, bags, GAA tops, perfumes, cigarettes and vapes were uncovered in the search of a house and business premises,” said the PSNI, adding that Tactical Support Group officers helped in the raids.

A female was arrested, and is currently on bail.

The PSNI added: “Counterfeit goods are made by people in other parts of the world in terrible conditions with workers often trafficked or involved in human slavery.

"Poor quality goods can also make products dangerous to wear or use.

"Police are asking people to think before they buy that ‘bargain’, no matter how good it may seem.”

The raids happened on March 10, but have only just been revealed by police.
