Woman left badly shaken after lunchtime robbery - money stolen by man wearing ‘green tracksuit bottoms with a stripe down the side and a grey hat with a black bobble’

A woman has been left ‘badly shaken but not injured’ after a burglary from commercial premises in Belfast city centre.

A 26-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Shortly before 1.45pm on February 24 two men entered a shop in the Dublin Road area of Belfast.

Sergeant Matt Boucher said one of the men was wearing a grey tracksuit with it pulled up over his face, while a second male approached the till and took a sum of money.

He is described as of medium build wearing a dark coloured puffa jacket, green tracksuit bottoms with a stripe down the side and a grey hat with a black bobble.

Sergeant Boucher added: “A female member of staff who was in the shop at the time of the incident was left badly shaken but not injured.

“One of the men was later arrested on suspicion of burglary and is assisting police with their enquiries.

“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1028 24/02/20.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
