Police in Banbridge are evacuating Solitude Park in the town due to a flood risk and have urged parents to remove children immediately.

Just after 3pm on Tuesday, the PSNI said officers had arrived at the scene and were “clearing the public from the area”.

The PSNI spokesperson added: “The level of the River Bann has risen dangerously high and we would ask any parents or guardians who may have children in the park to make sure they leave immediately.”

With many parts of Co Down already dealing with serious flooding incidents, the Met Office has issued another weather warning effective from 9pm on Tuesday until 9am on Wednesday.
