Fans welcome soccer heroes home

Northern Ireland fans turned out in their droves to Titanic Belfast to welcome home their soccer heroes tonight.

Michael O’Neill’s made history by reaching their first ever finals in France but a gutsy 1-0 defeat at the hands of world champions Germany, coupled with Turkey’s 2-0 win over the Czech Republic, ensured they broke more new ground by progressing as one of the best third-placed sides.

The soon to be out-of-contract Michael McGovern defied Germany with a string of wonderful saves and was the toast of the dressing room, which rewarded him with a standing ovation.

The Northern Ireland fans and players have had an extremely strong mutual affection and admiration for the duration of the Euro 2016 competition in France, however the team were eliminated on Saturday after a 1-0 loss to Wales.
