Female Ulster wrestler reveals her WWE dream

A Coalisland woman with dreams of performing in the WWE has been turning heads as the North's first ever female professional wrestler.

By day Lauren Cruickshank works as a clinical analyst in a Newry lab, but by night, she swaps her lab coat for spandex and becomes Lauren La Rue’.

Lauren, who trains six a days a week for her passion, said both she and her boyfriend The Apprentice’ Tim Steed decided to look into wrestling after going to a promotion in Belfast. Since then the pair have been working hard to hone their talents.

The 26-year-old said: “My boyfriend and I went to a show.

“I have always been into wrestling and I have always watched wrestling... we looked at each other and said I want to give this a bash’, so we went to the training school that PWU offers.”

Since performing at her first show in Dublin last year, Lauren now rumbles with women from across Ireland, the UK and even the US.

And she loves it.

“It’s so exciting and you know when you’ve pulled off a good match - that reaction from the crowd is insane.

“It’s so much fun, it’s so hard to describe. It just brings you back to your childhood. I’m 26-years-old and running around a ring.

“I would love to be able to do it for a living, “ she added. “If anybody told you otherwise, they would be lying.

“It’s not just a hobby, it’s something that you put so much time into and you’re putting your body at risk - it can’t just be a hobby. I am constantly at the gym working towards it.”

And now “Pro Wrestling Ulster’s first lady” has got England in her sights as she works towards her dreams of WWE.
