Fermanagh lodge opens new 3G sports pitch

An impressive 3G sports pitch developed by Maguiresbridge District LOL No 14 has been opened by football manager and Orangeman David Jeffrey.

The impressive sports pitch – which received £357,000 funding through the Department for Communities – is set to be used by local sports clubs, youth groups and other organisations within the area.

Derek Phair, chairman of Maguiresbridge pitch development and management committee, said: “Sport breaks down barriers and unites people in a common interest. This major investment will undoubtedly serve to further enhance community relations, and we look forward to welcoming sporting groups from whatever background to use our facility.”

Mr Jeffrey congratulated the committee and funders on the delivery of the new sporting arena.

The Ballymena United manager said: “This 3G pitch will provide an opportunity not only for people to come together and participate in sport, but also to avail of healthy activities in a safe and fit-for-purpose modern facility.

“I was delighted and very proud to be given the honour to open the new pitch, and I wish the Maguiresbridge pitch development and management committee every success with this new sporting venture.”

First Minister Arlene Foster, UUP MP Tom Elliott and DUP veteran Maurice Morrow attended the opening.
