The new charging stations at City Hall are solar-powered hubs that allow battery operated devices such as mobile phones and iPads to be powered up free of charge.

The charging points are located inside the City Hall grounds, at either side of the main entrance on Donegall Square North, and are available whenever the grounds are open.

Each station has charging tips for Apple, Android and Windows devices, along with USB and micro USB cables.

Lord Mayor of Belfast Brian Kingston, said: “The street charge units fall into the Council’s ongoing super connected Belfast scheme which, in addition to providing free Wi-Fi to members of the public, will provide a resource for them to charge their devices as and when required.”

The charge units are currently a temporary installation.
