A number of people circulated images of a band on Twitter – claiming the ‘Volunteer Julie Dougan’ republican flute band had been permitted to take part in the parade despite being “paramilitary uniformed”.

Three republican bands are expected to take part in the event which has been organised by the North Belfast 1916 Easter Rising Centenary Committee. The parade is due to assemble at Ardoyne Avenue before making its way past Carrick Hill to Stanhope Street.

United Protestant Voice will hold a protest close to Carlisle Circus.
