Man spared jail to get his life back on track

A father of one yesterday thanked a Crown Court judge after he was spared a jail term to enable him to get his life back on track.

Johnathan Dalzell was handed a combination order of 18 months probation and 100 hours community service after a search of his home at Mayflower Street in Belfast last summer, during which drugs, drugs paraphernalia, a taser and pepper spray were seized.

After hearing that since his arrest last June Dalzell has “abstained from drugs” and is seeking employment, Her honour Judge McCaffrey said that whilst the offences were serious, she was prepared to give Dalzell one last chance to stablise his life.
