Man suffers serious head injury in Belfast takeaway incident

A man has been left seriously ill after an assault in central Belfast, police have said.

Police said they received reports at around 12.35am of a row between two men in a fast food outlet on Donegall Place – the street immediately leading up to City Hall – which spilled on to the street outside.

One man, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital with a head injury where his condition was described as serious.

The second man involved in the incident was described by police as being aged in his early 20’s, of slim to medium build, with cropped dark hair shaved on both sides.

Detective Sergeant Natalie McNally appealed for anyone who was in the area of Donegall Place or High Street and who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information to contact officers in Musgrave station.
