Belittling the dead of the RUC
I am disgusted that Superintendent Mark McEwen should take it upon himself to belittle the honourable names of those brave RUC officers who paid the supreme sacrifice in the defence of our country against republican terrorism.
His apology is extremely hurtful and humiliating, and is worth nothing, unless, that is, he restores the memorial to his murdered colleagues to its original place.
If he refuses, as is the wish of the IRA Army Council, his currently serving officers will take very cold comfort from any words he says that indicate that he has interest in their welfare.
Anything that indicates a lack of concern for the dead demonstrates a lack of concern for the living either.
