Ruth Dudley Edwards to join the News Letter as a regular columnist

The highly respected writer and commentator Ruth Dudley Edwards is joining the News Letter as a weekly columnist.

Dr Dudley Edwards is author of The Faithful Tribe: An Intimate Portrait of the Loyal Institutions and Aftermath: the Omagh Bombing and the Families’ Pursuit of Justice. Her most recent book is The Seven: The Lives and Legacies of the Founding Fathers of the Irish Republic.

She is a also a writer of satirical crime fiction.

Ruth, who was born and brought up in Dublin and studied at University College in the city (UCD), has often written about how she came to question Catholicism and Irish nationalism.

Living in London, she is an explicit critic of terrorism and in recent years has become a strong supporter of Brexit.

“I came to know and like a lot of unionists over the decades and to see their point of view and write about it,” she says.

Ruth has written for UK-wide publications, as well as for titles in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
