Doctor McCloskey has it right – problems far worse than Covid are coming our way thanks to lockdown

I totally agree with the excellent article in Friday’s News Letter by Dr Anne McCloskey

She speaks the truth, which many other doctors and scientists worldwide are beginning to articulate despite threats from employers. These lockdowns and restrictions are a complete waste of time, money and energy – ‘this virus cannot be suppressed!’

Last Thursday night we had the disgraceful scenes of Stephen Nolan harassing people outside a shop for not wearing a face mask – how dare he question our choices!

This was followed by our acquiescing ministers extending mask wearing and increasing fines for non-compliance. Then BBC Talkback whipping up even more divisions in our communities by encouraging civil and police action for non-compliance.

I still have not heard any scientific evidence from Mr Swann to support the wearing of masks following the challenge from Van Morrison.

rom the data, it seems obvious that face masks are doing no good as the number of cases has risen faster in spite of their mandatory introduction and 99% of the population complying.

In fact they are probably doing more harm with the extremely unhygienic way that most people are wearing them as they repeatedly put them in and out of pockets, handbags etc.

As Dr McCloskey says, the tsunami of economic, physical, and mental problems which will follow this craziness will far outweigh any deaths caused directly by Covid19. Our politicians and media find it impossible to put any sort of perspective on this epidemic, with every news bulletin a doom and gloom story, with no mention of the small numbers in hospital.

This persistent scaremongering by our political leaders has penetrated even our churches where some of our spiritual leaders have caved in and started to close our churches again.

Where are men like Pastor John McArthur who say “we ought to obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29, KJV) in respect of “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together” (Hebrews 10:25, KJV)?

We need to get this coronavirus into perspective and fight for our human rights and freedoms.
