Letter: A single unionist party would indeed increase the unionist vote
A letter from Jack Irwin:
Alex Swann is quite wrong (‘It is fanciful to think that a single unionist party offering a narrow vision will lead to an increase in the unionist vote,’ Nov 22).

A single unionist party would indeed increase the unionist vote, provided of course that the policies were the correct ones.
Also, such a party could focus on the increasing and ongoing onslaught we are experiencing from republicans, nationalists and others, instead of also having the unedifying public spats within unionism we see from time to time.
Naturally there would be differences within such a party, which is perfectly natural and actually healthy but those could be more easily kept ‘in house’ thus enabling the focus I refer to.
