Portora was not 100% Protestant

In his second Roamer article on the recently beatified Father John Sullivan (May 24) Charlie Warmington states that when the young John Sullivan entered Portora in 1873 the school was 100% Protestant.

Not so: as Fr Sullivan himself recalled, there were Catholic pupils at Portora when he was a boy (just as there were in my time, just over a century after); long before Fr Sullivan was there Edward Kernan, a future Catholic Bishop of Clogher, is believed to have been a boy at the school.
