Over 200 dairy stands at annual Winter Fair at Eikon Exhibition Centre in Lisburn

Tomorrow sees the launch of the annual Royal Ulster Winter Fair at Lisburn, with over 200 stands dedicated to the latest innovations and equipment for the dairy industry.

The 39th annual show boasts an unrivalled turnout of leading dairy industry specialists, from service providers and technology pioneers to live demonstrations and sustainable solutions, with over two hundred trade stands for dairy enthusiasts to browse throughout the day.

Amongst the returning visitor favourites for the 39th fair are Cookstown Dairy Services, Countryside Services Ltd, farmdrive, Germinal, H Fulton Tractors, HVS Animal Health, Lely Center Eglish and Pearson Milking Technology.

New to the Show this year are Agway Milling Ltd, Daisy Agri Equipment, Frazer Contracts, Giraffe ATV, Leam Agri Ltd, MILKING 4 U, Share Energy, Sustainable Ruminant Genetics Ltd and the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster.

RUAS Group Operations Director Rhonda Geary commented: "We look forward to welcoming everyone this Thursday who will be sure to find something of interest from our many trade stands.

"The Eikon and Logan Halls will be full to capacity with the latest innovations and top-quality service providers."

Earlier this week she announced that a decision had been taken not to host the annual judging competition for NI’s top dairy cattle, in light of the Bluetongue outbreaks in Co Down.

"It is extremely regrettable that there will be no cattle at this year’s show but, as widespread testing is continuing for bluetongue and due to our very close proximity to the temporary control zone, it is our priority to protect the welfare of the province’s top dairy stock,” she said.

"However, we know how important the Winter Fair is to our local agri industry and what a popular social event the Show is in the rural calendar. Even without the cattle, we know this year’s Winter Fair will not disappoint".
