Bra-fitting service helps over 3,000 cancer patients

Cancer Focus Northern Ireland has supported over 3,000 local women who’ve had breast cancer surgery in the last five years with its specialist bra-fitting service, new figures have revealed.

The service is currently available to women all over Northern Ireland via Zoom, phone and in person to those in the wider Belfast, Ballymoney, Newry and Londonderry areas.

During the current Covid restrictions, face-to-face appointments with full PPE are being offered to clients who prefer to attend in person.

The charity is also offering more online support via phone and Zoom and is planning an online store where women can browse bras and swimwear.

Breast cancer survivor Eileen McCay (pictured), who has used the service, said: “I had a mastectomy followed by chemotherapy and hormone treatment, which finished in April 2018.

“I decided not to have reconstruction but I attend the Cancer Focus NI’s wonderful bra-fitting service for special bras, so I can feel and look like myself and comfortable in my own clothes.”

You can enter as many times as you like and each text costs £5, plus your standard network rate.) The competition will close at 12 noon on Wednesday, March 10, 2021. The winner will be announced on Friday March 12.
