Drone show plan for North West 200
A Titanic-style drone show at future North West 200s is being planned by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.
At September’s Environmental Services Committee UUP councillor Richard Holmes, noted he and other the committee members had recently discussed the possibility of a drone show at the North West 200, similar to one organised in March by the BBC as part of its ‘Made Of Here’ campaign.
The campaign celebrated BBC programming made in Northern Ireland by recreating the RMS Titanic in Belfast Harbour with a 950-drone display, which was then broadcast on BBC One Northern Ireland on Thursday, April 2.
Councillor Holmes concluded: “We were just talking yesterday about the drone displays and speculating on motorbike drones at the North West show or something like that.
“Whenever you see what happened with the Titanic display in Belfast a few months back, it does look pretty impressive now.”
