First phase of Co Antrim housing scheme sells out

The first phase of a new housing scheme in Carrickfergus has been sold in its entirety on the same day that it was placed on the market.

A dozen properties at Ashbourne Manor, a development by Lotus Homes, were purchased in just four hours representing sales worth £2,250,000.

The scheme will consist of 104 new homes at the edge of the town on the north shore of Belfast Lough, with a mix of apartments, semi detached and detached dwellings.

After going on sale at 9am last Thursday with joint selling agents, Simon Brien and Reeds Rains, the full first phase of 12 homes were sold by lunchtime amid strong demand.

It comes just two weeks after Northern Ireland’s residential property market reopened following restrictions placed upon it by the coronavirus outbreak.

Lotus Homes, a residential developer based in Banbridge, have several developments ongoing across the greater Belfast area in Comber, Jordanstown and Ballyclare.

The firm said it also had “strong demand” on further developments in Newry, Armagh and Antrim.

Paul O’Rourke from Lotus Homes said: “The sales on our latest scheme prove that demand remains strong post lockdown and buyers are keener than ever to buy. Sales have been extremely strong amid pent up demand which proves there is continuing confidence in the Northern Ireland residential property market.”

Simon Brien from Simon Brien Residential added: “The strong sales on Ashbourne Manor are typical of the demand we are seeing across high quality new developments since the residential property market reopened two weeks ago.

“We expect to see similar demand as future phases of the scheme are released to the market.”
