Three fire appliances made safe a fire in a Belfast apartment earlier today.

The fire started in a ground floor apartment at Ladybrook Cross in west Belfast.

One person was taken to safety after the incident.

A statement from the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service said two of the appliances came from Cadogan Fire Station and the third came from Springfield Fire Station.

The statement adds that “firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two jets to extinguish the fire”.

And one “resident was taken into the care of Northern Ireland Ambulance Service”.

“The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental ignition and the incident was dealt with by 12.27pm,” adds the statement.
