Valentine's Day: Footprints of love bring smiles to parents in Neonatal Unit at the Ulster Hospital

Staff in the Neonatal Unit at the Ulster Hospital spread some Valentine’s Day cheer, delighting parents with babies in the Unit by surprising them with thoughtful gifts on the most romantic day of the year.

Each parent received a beautifully designed card featuring their baby’s footprint, a special poem and a Valentine’s box filled with pampering items, a heartfelt gesture to celebrate their little ones and support parents during what can be such a challenging time.

Neonatal Sister, Hayley Hopkins, who helped organise the gifts, said: “We love making our parents feel special and help them celebrate milestones with their babies. Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to share a little extra love and care.”

Neonatal Sister, Ann Christie added: “We created little cards with each baby’s footprint and put together Valentine’s boxes with a few special treats. It is a small surprise, but it can mean so much to parents going through a difficult time. Even during challenging moments, there are times for joy and celebration.

“The parents really love it, it brings smiles to their faces and helps make their experience a little brighter. Our aim is always to integrate families into the care we provide and Valentine’s Day gives us a wonderful chance to share love and kindness with them.”
