Gill Hall: Co Down country estate lays out ambitious plans for 'ultimate' rural retreat
A luxurious Co Down country estate is set to begin development to attract traditional “shooting and fishing enthusiasts" into the “ultimate” rural estate.
The developer, ‘Gill Hall Farm’, has also put forward its ambitions for a Drumbeg holiday park into Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council’s planning committee this week.
A public consultation on the major holiday development is due to take place at the Leisureplex in Lisburn on October 6 with little details at this stage.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service contacted Gill Hall for comment.
On its website, Gill Hall has publicly outlined its plans for the Dromore ‘Country Club and Spa’ which will include the renovation of a 350-year-old grand building.
It reads: “An opportunity for people from local and faraway places to enjoy an authentic, but accessible country and farm experience with excellence in every touch-point.
“Whether you are a shooting or fishing enthusiast, a budding chef, farming and agronomy aficionado, short break fan, relaxing tourist or are just looking for a great time in the country with good wholesome food, leisurely walks and spectacular natural surroundings, Gill Hall Estate will have it all.”
The site for the development is located off the main carriageway at Dromore.
The main house at Gill Hall was constructed in the 1670s and was later abandoned in the 1920s.
The website states that work on the “ultimate country estate experience” at the Gill Hall Estate was set to begin on site in the summer.
It adds: “You will be able to stay in top-class accommodation, indulge in the luxurious spa, experience the best of locally sourced food in the Herdsman & Bull bar/restaurant and shop in the Gill Hall Farm Shop with its carefully curated produce and fresh meat and veg from our own and other farms.
“Gill Hall will serve up excellent wholesome food with the best of seasonal ingredients and the level of honest, attentive service you would wish for from an inspired team with authentic family business commitment.
“A compelling venue for weddings, events – private and corporate, musical evenings, festivals, picnics, barbecues, family celebrations… in short, an enchanting place to chill out, relax and indulge in the myriad of activities and luxury comforts this rural jewel has to offer.”
