Raid nets six-figure cache of cannabis

A six-figure haul of cannabis has been found during a police raid in Belfast.

Officers conducted a search of a property in Dunmurry, at the south-western edge of Belfast, on Tuesday.

Led by detectives from the Organised Crime Branch, they uncovered what was described as “suspected cannabis worth an estimated street value of £100,000”.

In a statement, Detective Sergeant McAuley said: “This seizure highlights our continued determination to tackle the scourge of illegal drugs in the local community and I would appeal to anyone who has concerns about illegal drugs to contact police.

“We will look into any report that we receive as we work with the community to reduce the harm caused by these drugs.

“I would appeal to anyone who has any concerns or information about illegal drugs to contact their local police on the non-emergency number 101.

“Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
