It collided with two PSNI vehicles at the scene before being pursued into Belfast.

A third police car was then struck at Cullingtree Walk in the west of the city.

The two accused, who cannot be named because of their ages, were arrested and jointly charged with burglary, aggravated vehicle taking and attempted burglary of another house in Lynda Meadows.

The 16-year-old faces further counts of dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, failing to stop for police and using a motor vehicle without insurance.

Appearing together at Belfast Magistrates’ Court in matching tracksuits, both of the youths spoke only to confirm they understood the alleged offences.

Defence lawyers said they were not yet seeking bail.

The defendants were each remanded into custody to appear again by videolink on Monday.

Bail applications are expected to be mounted at that stage.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man and 17-year-old youth arrested as part of the same investigation were released on police bail pending further inquiries.
