Gale force winds, heavy rain and ‘brighter spells’ in store for NI families this week

Over the last few weeks it seemed like the unpredictable weather was unending.

But as for the rest of the week, here's what the Met Office has to say:

TODAY

Showers occasional across west for much of the day, turning frequent late afternoon, but few outbreaks reaching to the east of Lough Neagh where best of brighter spells appear.

Winds strong from west to southwest. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Tonight:

Strong westerly flow continuing to push showers across the area, again most frequent in the west, particularly during the early to mid-evening. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Tuesday:

Similar to Monday with brisk westerly winds bringing a mix of showers and brighter spells, with eastern areas in the best of the shelter. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Rain soon spreading from west Wednesday, occasionally turning heavy, before finally clearing to showers early Thursday.

Friday brings rain and strong to gale southwest winds, perhaps clearing to showers later.
