PureGym is offering free home workout routines - and you don’t have to be a member

As lockdown restrictions across the UK once again force gyms to close their doors to the public, many are wondering how they are going to continue with their exercise routines.

As a result, gym chain PureGym has announced that it is making its fitness app free to use for everyone.

Previously, PureGym required gym goers to pay £19.99 a month for a membership and access to the app.

How to access the free workouts

To begin, you’ll need to download the PureGym app. It’s available to download for free from the Google Play store or the iOS App store.

Open the app after it's downloaded and you’ll be greeted with a screen which says “Welcome to PureGym”. Below this you’ll see two options - log in or try, or join PureGym.

Click the “log in or try” option. Then you’ll be able to see an option which says, “Just want to try the app? Get free unlimited access to 100+ home workouts and more, complete the form and we will get you set up!”

Click continue as a guest and fill out the online form. You’ll be asked for details like your name, email address and postcode. You’ll also need to choose a “home gym” which means just choosing a PureGym branch. This can be changed at any time, so don’t worry about accidentally choosing the wrong branch.

Finally, you’ll need to enter your mobile phone number. After that, you’ll then be able to access the app for free.

Free workouts

At the bottom of the PureGym app, you’ll see five options - Home, Bookings, Training, Activity, Account.

Tap the training option in the centre, and you’ll see a screen which says Your Plan and Classes.

If you click Classes, you’ll be able to choose between different categories of workouts, such as cardio, strength, yoga and even PureGym signature classes.

Tap on your workout category of choice and you’ll be able to see all of the available workout videos. Click on the video you want to view and it will start playing on your device.

Under the Your Plan option, you can set yourself an exercise plan, and the app will generate a routine for you to follow. Enter details like what your goals are, what your fitness level is and how many times you’re looking to work out per week.

As well as the free workouts on the app, PureGym also has a YouTube channel which offers up a number of free helpful videos, ranging from exercise videos to healthy recipes.
