MICHAEL McLELLAN: Ards ace at the double over Dergview

Ards claimed a convincing victory over Dergview in the Bet McLean League Cup with a 4-1 success at Darragh Park.

Michael McLellan opened the scoring for the visitors on 16 minutes - but to the delight of the home fans, Dergview were level on the half-hour mark when Gareth Falconer netted for the hosts.

However, Ards ramped up the pressure in the second half to score three unanswered goals as they pulled clear towards wrapping up a spot in the next round.

McLellan was on target with a penalty kick for his second of the tie.

Ryan Strain then grabbed his first goal in Ards colours thanks to a clinical header.

Kyle Cherry capped the visitors’ night by converting off a Sam Dinu pass.
