Crusaders confirm exit of 'cult hero' after fee agreed with Scottish club

Dunfermline Athletic have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Musa Dibaga from Crusaders for an undisclosed fee with the Irish League club wishing their “cult hero” well in Scotland.

The 26-year-old arrived at Seaview from Inverness Caledonian Thistle ahead of last season and made 18 Premiership appearances.

Dibaga played a key role in helping the Crues preserve their top flight status, saving penalties in both normal time and a shoot-out victory over Annagh United as Declan Caddell’s side won a promotion/relegation play-off.

With former Northern Ireland goalkeeper Jonny Tuffey retiring this summer and Dibaga now departing, Caddell will be on the search for a new number one ahead of next season.

Dunfermline are managed by ex-Northern Ireland international Neil Lennon and have previously looked to the Irish League with Shea Kearney and Callumn Morrison joining the Pars last year.

Confirming Dibaga’s exit, Crusaders posted: “Crusaders can announce that goalkeeper, and cult hero, Musa Dibaga has left the club after signing for Scottish Championsip side Dunfermline Athletic for an undisclosed fee.

“Musa's one season at Seaview, making 22 appearances, saw the massive keeper become a firm favourite on the terraces.

"There were some terrific performances in the games he played with his shot stopping a vital part of Crusaders results over the season.

“Who will ever forget the play off second leg tie against Annagh United when his penalty save during the game and several in the penalty shoot out where as important as any goals scored and ultimately staying in the Premiership.

"The very best of luck as you move to Scotland to further your career. Thank you for your time playing for Crusaders.”

Zaragoza-born Dibaga was named in the PFA Scotland League One Team of the Season during his time at Inverness and has signed a two-year contract with Dunfermline.
