Former Glens goalkeeper Devine spent just over two years in the role, reaching two consecutive BetMcLean Cup finals – both ended in extra-time defeats – and won a Co Antrim Shield in January 2025.
Glentoran finished third in both of Devine’s two Premiership seasons, but improved significantly last term, winning six more games and collecting 16 more points across 2025/26 compared to the previous campaign.
They were in Gibson Cup contention until the Irish League’s final day – the Glens were beaten 6-2 by Coleraine while Larne sealed a third title in four seasons by beating Dungannon Swifts.
The Oval outfit have endured a torrid start to the current season, winning just two of their first six league matches - a run which has left them sitting eighth in Northern Ireland’s top-flight.
With Devine departing, here’s a list of some potential candidates Ali Pour and the club’s board could be looking at.

5. Joey O'Brien
A former Premier League player, Joey O'Brien served on Damien Duff's backroom staff at Shelbourne as the Dubliners won the Premier Division title in 2024. The 40-year-old took over the reins from Duff and spent one year in the top job at Tolka Park before leaving this summer. O'Brien has been listed as assisting with the Republic of Ireland's U17s for their upcoming matches but remains available. Photo: Charles McQuillan

6. Gary Hamilton
A former Glentoran player, Gary Hamilton was part of the last Glens squad to win a Premiership title. He enjoyed a hugely successful spell in charge of Glenavon, winning two Irish Cups alongside recording four third-placed league finishes. 7. Jim Magilton
If Glentoran wanted to look within the Irish League, Jim Magilton would be a fantastic choice. The former Northern Ireland international has enjoyed silverware success since being appointed as Reds manager and was previously boss at Ipswich Town and Queens Park Rangers. Cliftonville are on the cusp of an exciting takeover and Magilton signed a contract extension until 2028 last year. Photo: David Maginnis

8. Rodney McAree
Another of the Irish League's best managers, Rodney McAree previously worked at Glentoran and it seems unlikely he'd go back at this stage. The ex-Coleraine boss is enjoying a golden period of success with his hometown club Dungannon Swifts, masterminding their charge towards consecutive Irish Cup finals and back-to-back top-half Premiership finishes.
