Former Glens goalkeeper Devine spent just over two years in the role, reaching two consecutive BetMcLean Cup finals – both ended in extra-time defeats – and won a Co Antrim Shield in January 2025.
Glentoran finished third in both of Devine’s two Premiership seasons, but improved significantly last term, winning six more games and collecting 16 more points across 2025/26 compared to the previous campaign.
They were in Gibson Cup contention until the Irish League’s final day – the Glens were beaten 6-2 by Coleraine while Larne sealed a third title in four seasons by beating Dungannon Swifts.
The Oval outfit have endured a torrid start to the current season, winning just two of their first six league matches - a run which has left them sitting eighth in Northern Ireland’s top-flight.
With Devine departing, here’s a list of some potential candidates Ali Pour and the club’s board could be looking at.

9. Gareth McAuley
Gareth McAuley enjoyed a hugely successful playing career at both club and international level before moving into coaching. He has served as Northern Ireland U19s manager since 2023 and led his country into a home European Championships. The 46-year-old has yet to step into senior management but has experience of the Irish League and will be a frequent watcher due to his current role. Photo: Jonathan Porter/Press Eye
