Northern Ireland beaten in Pinatar Cup opener
Northern Ireland were beaten 1-0 by Iceland in their opening match of the Pinatar Cup in Spain.
Casey Howe, Kelsie Burrows and Danielle Maxwell all made their senior debuts as Kenny Shiels’ side look to build up match fitness ahead of next month’s crucial UEFA Women’s Euro 2021 qualifier away to Belarus.
It was Iceland who scored the only goal, though, with Dagny Brynarsdottir finding the net midway through the first half.
Northern Ireland will play further games against Ukraine on Saturday and Scotland next Tuesday.
